The Journey of Premier Metal Buyers:
At Premier Metal Buyers (PMB), we maintain the values of a small-town family business thanks to our leaders, Mike Brannon (Owner of BIG), Cindy Brannon (CEO of BIG), and Blake Brannon (President of BIG), who embody faith, humility, perseverance, and dedication. This year marks 14 years since our founding, and we're proud of our journey from a small-town venture to statewide expansion. Our story, marked by early challenges and steady growth, reflects our commitment to these values. We’re grateful to share the story of PMB, where we watched faith and steel forge together.
The Beginning:
Premier Metal Buyers was founded in 2011 by Mike and Blake Brannon (father and son). It began as a small, family-owned business rooted in a unique entrepreneurial spirit and faith. Pursuing a promising baseball career with the Dodgers, Blake faced an injury that redirected his future. Blake decided to move back home and was interested in starting a business career. Meanwhile, Mike established himself in the dumpster industry through his startup, Budget Rolloff (now BVR Dumpsters). Mike started getting loads of scrap metal through his dumpster business and was selling it; they recognized an opportunity to combine their drive for entrepreneurship and decided to join forces to begin the journey of Premier Metal Buyers.
Getting Started:
Pooling the earnings from their scrap metal endeavors, Blake and Mike took the lead in launching Premier Metal Buyers. They began by purchasing scrap metal from the public and leveraging radio advertisements to promote their services. Their endeavor quickly gained momentum, attracting an abundance of scrap metal beyond their initial expectations. This influx necessitated investments in machinery and trucks, inadvertently sparking an expansion.
Mike and Blake Brannon worked hard to make PMB a strong and self-sufficient business. They sold metal daily, taking loads to Houston and putting their profits back into the company to help it grow and stay stable. PMB's location made it tough to get metal to steel mills. They figured out better ways to transport and process metal, so they invested in trucks and machines. This made PMB's operations smoother and allowed them to handle more metal. Blake and Mike's dedication and smart investments helped PMB overcome challenges and grow. Their story shows how commitment and planning can build a successful business from scratch.
Staying Grounded:
Staying grounded in faith has been a cornerstone of Premier Metal Buyers' journey—a moral and value held close to Mike and Blake Brannon's hearts. Faith isn't just a personal belief but the foundation upon which their business stands. Through moments of uncertainty and challenges, they found solace and strength in their faith, believing in divine guidance and timing. One word of encouragement that resonated deeply with them was patience. Mike often reflects, "Be very patient because if you are still, listen and then react, things are done correctly. When you rush things, they never work out." This principle of patience has guided their decision-making, ensuring that every step taken is deliberate and thoughtful.
Premier Metal Buyers embraces a culture of giving back. Recognizing their blessings through the success of their company, Mike and Blake feel a profound duty and obligation to their community and customers. They see their business not only as a means of livelihood but as a platform to fulfill their calling—to share their blessings and positively impact the lives of those they serve.
